My name is Sharim and I provide personalised contemporary piano and acoustic fingerstyle guitar lessons tailored to your unique musical aspirations through ear-based learning and understanding music structurally. My primary focus is reconnecting adult learners with musicality that they couldn't find with traditional music lessons - but I also coach new musicians and younger learners.
Australian trumpet player/composer/arranger Cam McAllister has established himself as an in-demand musician, both as a jazz trumpet player and composer for large ensembles. Cam is the Musical Director of the Royal Australian Navy’s Admiral’s Own Big Band in Sydney, a position he held from 2012 - 2020. Cam has composed and arranged countless big band charts ranging from high school level through to pro level contemporary jazz orchestras, performed in Australia and abroad. Several of Cam’s compositions have been recorded, most recently on the Royal Australian Navy’s Admiral’s Own Big Band latest releases entitled Compositions (2014) and Straight Ahead (2016). Cam is also a dedicated composer for wind band and has composed and arranged several works in this idiom. Cam was a finalist twice in the prestigious James Morrison Jazz Award on trumpet and was also one of 50 musicians handpicked worldwide for the 2008 Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music, hosted by Dave Douglas. Cam has performed with, among others: Hugh Jackman, Jimmy Barnes, Alice Cooper, Roger Daltrey, John Cleese, Petula Clark, Richard Carpenter, Mark Fitzgibbon Quintet, Ten Part Invention, John Paul Young, ATM15, The Bamboos, Electric Empire, The Jazzgroove Mothership Orchestra, The Melbourne Jazz Orchestra, Bennett’s Lane Big Band as well as his own ensembles; the Cam McAllister big band and Cam McAllister sextet. Cam has an already established, nationwide profile as a jazz musician, composer and arranger. He has independently funded and released his jazz sextet’s album Libran Balance (2008)for ‘Jazztracks’ on ABC Classic FM; recorded mixed and mastered by Mal Stanley. The album received critical acclaim, of particular note his songs White Knight, Waterfall and Clear which had “enduring appeal in [their] complex, interweaving patterns” (Herald Sun, 2008), with Cam himself recognised as a “talent deserving wider recognition” (Limelight, January 2008). The album made it as high as #1 spot on the iTunes Australia jazz charts. Cam continues to compose and perform regularly throughout Australia with his own ensembles as well as a sideman with some of Australia’s finest musicians.

I currently teach around 30 students, all with different levels of experience, musical interests, and commitment to practice. Because of this, I don’t follow a “one size fits all” approach, each student has their own tailored learning plan and pathway. I keep separate progress profiles for every student, allowing me to track their development and adjust lessons as they improve. Whether you’re a complete beginner or more advanced, learning for fun or working towards exams, your lessons will be structured specifically for you. Each session follows a clear and practical structure. We usually begin with warm ups to build finger strength and coordination, then move into technical exercises to improve accuracy and technique. From there, we focus on songs and musical pieces to apply what you’ve learned in a real, enjoyable way. This helps students stay engaged while developing both skill and musical understanding. At the end of every lesson, I provide a simple and clear practice plan so you know exactly what to work on and how to practise effectively during the week. My goal is to make sure every student not only improves but also understands their progress and feels confident in their playing.
Elaine has been teaching violin, viola, and piano for over ten years overseas and in Sydney. After completing her Bachelor of Music, she also has a master's degree in creative music therapy from WSU. Given her educational background, I served as a music teacher in senior high school and private music educational institutions. She has experience in teaching AMEB exam or for students who generally want to learn music as a hobby. Currently, she's traveling to students' places for teaching and would choose textbooks based on students' individual goals and interests.

I have a Bachelor's from The University of Queensland, and I am in the process of completing my Master's there as well.
